Week 3 Power Rankings

No previews this week, just Power Rankings.

Rank Team Record Comment
1. Manhattan Pride 2-0 After losing in the championship game last season, this is a team on a mission.  They avenged their championship loss in Week 1 and handled an athletic Indie Team in Week 2. Target is definitely on their back.
2. Very Erratic Play 2-0 This team is the first ever in ABCHoopsNYC history to not only play with four players the entire game, but win!  This new team to the league looks to make some noise.
3. Benedict Schemers 2-0 Can you do more with less?  After breaking from the Ponzis, the Benedicts look extremely powerful and they have personally guaranteed a perfect season.
4. Team X 1-0 Don't sleep on these guys.  They have a ring under their belts and are a perennial contender for the chip.
5. Newport 1-0 After going winless in the Fall, this team is coming back with a vengeance loaded with new talent.  They have also guaranteed a perfect season.
6. Ponzi Schemers 1-1 After a monster Fall season, the Ponzis' early first round exit in the playoffs showed that they had a lot of work to do.  These guys have lost a lot of core pieces to the Benedicts, but have also added a ton of size and speed.  Captain Adam Murphy too has guaranteed a perfect season.
7. 3rd Rock 1-1 This is a much improved squad.  After losing five straight in the Fall, they went on a two game winning streak that was cut by a one point loss to Newport.  This is a reenergized squad that gets better each week.
8. Spring Street 0-2 Although they are currently winless, we gotta give the defending champs some love.  Their big man Herman was out last week due to a nasty lip injury, but reports say that he's fine and should be back in no time.  Once he's back, this is still a very dangerous team.
9. Super Soul Sonics 1-0 Impressive win by these guys.  They play great team ball and will be tested this week by Very Erratic Play.
10. Money Team 0-1 This is a very intriguing team.  Very talented and athletic inside and out.  Give them a couple of weeks of gelling with each other and we'll see them up on this list.
11. Indie Team 0-1 Tons of individual talent, however, playing as a team is definitely something that needs work.  Just like Money Team, we'll see them up on this list soon enough.
12. Hoops! I Did It Again 0-2 I like their team play and don't be fooled by their record.  They had a tough early schedule and kept up with the best of the best of this league.  They'll climb in this ranking.
13. Titans 0-1 Young squad that will learn a lot playing in this league.  Quick guards and if their shots start sinking, they will hang with the best.
14. Trick Candles 0-1 After taking the fall season off, this team showed some rust in their opener.  Look for them to bounce back this week.
15. Stay Movin' 0-2 Tough loss last week.  They need to play better team ball and make sure only five of their players on the court, not six.
16. Game, Blouses 1-0 This ranking is appropriate for their performance in the playoffs.  Same ole story with this group.

Congratulations Wen Bo - Your 2011 Fall Champs!

Wen Bo won their second ABC Hoops Championship yesterday after winning a hard fought game in overtime against Manhattan Pride. Both Wen Bo and Manhattan Pride won in their 1st Round games and then proceded to knock out the 1 and 2 seeds in the Semifinals.

Below are the boxscores and playoff bracket. Team pages have also been updated with stats from the playoff games. Check back in a few days for pics of the playoffs and some words about the Winter Season starting December 4th.

Playoffs - 11/13/11 Preview

I'm just a totally objective third party observer of this league. I have nothing else to do on Sundays and here is how I think the playoffs are going down:

Round 1 12:15pm - (4) Team X vs (5) Wen Bo

Experience is not an issue here. Both teams have gone through the rigors of the playoffs before and each has a championship under their belts. These two teams met Week 2 and Team X pulled away in the second half. Having come back from a season off and posting an impressive 4-2 record, I don't think Wen Bo is getting the credit they deserve. Wen Bo has played each game this season with the same 8 players while Team X has had 12 different players show up to various games. The kind of cohesion Wen Bo has built cannot be overstated. Team X however just has too much size down low. It'll be a close one, but I think Team X advances.

Prediction: Team X over Wen Bo

Round 2 1:15pm - (3) Manhattan Pride vs (6) Brooklyn Hustlas

After an emotional victory for the Hustlas last week taking down the undefeated Ponzi Schemers, they storm into the playoffs on a hot streak. They've won their last two games and look to go deep into the playoffs. Manhattan Pride is entering the playoffs off a bye week, but Manhattan Pride has the size the Hustlas do not. They played each other in Week 2 with the Hustlas winning by 2 points. I predict the Hustlas to win again and upset the higher seed.

Prediction: Brooklyn Hustlas over Manhattan Pride

Semifinals 2:15pm - (1) Ponzi Schemers vs (4) Team X

The #1 seeded Schemers took down Team X in dramatic fashion Week 6. Team X has had all of two weeks to think about that stinging loss so look for them to come out strong against the Schemers. Are these Schemers for real? Don't think so. I predict an early exit for the Ponzi Dreamers.

Prediction: Team X over Ponzi Schemers

Semifinals 3:15pm - (2) Game, Blouses vs (6) Brooklyn Hustlas

These teams have yet to face each other. The Blouses ARE SMOKING! They've won their last three games and boast a league high +88 in point differential. However, don't be fooled again. This is Karl, Matt, and Lewis' third trip to the ABC Hoops Playoffs, and they still have yet to add the coveted customized championship shirt to their wardrobe. Is THIS YEAR FINALLY IT? Yes.

Prediction: Game, Blouses over Brooklyn Husltas

Finals 4:15pm - (2) Game, Blouses vs (4) Team X

The key to this game is going to be fatigue. Team X will have played two very tough games prior while the Blouses will just have played one. We will have Five Hour Energy there giving away products, so maybe that'll help. Yes, this is a rematch of the summer's championship game.

It's gut check time. Who will dig deep and fight off fatigue? I predict the Blouses will exorcise the demons from that afternoon in early August—it's the Blouses season.

Prediction: Game Blouses your Fall 2011 ABCHoopsNYC Champions!

Playoff Bracket

It was a 'Win and You're In' situation on Sunday for Brooklyn Hustlas and Wen Bo yesterday, and they both did so—albeit in different ways. Brooklyn Hustlas spoiled the Ponzi Schemers' bid for the first undefeated season in ABC Hoops NYC history, and Anthony Wiener's Wiener's forfeit to Wen Bo meant they too would advance into the playoffs. Some of the Ponzis stuck around to scrimmage with Wen Bo.

Kaman His Pants needed a loss from either Brooklyn Hustlas or Wen Bo earlier in the day to have a chance of advancing, but it didn't end up that way. 3rd Rock was trying for their first win of the season, and with Latwain's 30 point outburst, they were able to get it. Game, Blouses' game had no impact on playoff seeding, but wanting momentum going into the postseason, they still played hard and beat Real Ready.

With everything now set, here's the playoff bracket:

Week 7 - 11/6/11 Preview

The last day of the Fall regular season is this Sunday, and it's been a competitive and fun season, but now it's time to get serious. Real Ready, 3rd Rock, and Anthony Wiener's Wiener have officially been eliminated from playoff contention, but they all still have the potential to spoil the playoff dreams of their opponents.

The 1-4 seeds have already been set:

  1. Ponzi Schemers
  2. Game, Blouses
  3. Manhattan Pride
  4. Team X

Ponzi Schemers locked up the Number 1 Seed last week with a win over Team X. Game, Blouses have the Number 2 Seed since they beat Manhattan Pride in Week 5. Manhattan Pride will be the Number 3 Seed since they beat the Number 4 Seed Team X in Week 4.

Wen Bo and Brooklyn Hustlas can both end up with the same records as Game, Blouses, Manhattan Pride, and Team X. However, Wen Bo lost to both Manhattan Pride and Team X so they cannot be seeded higher than them. Brooklyn Hustlas beat Manhattan Pride, but Manhattan Pride beat both Team X and Wen Bo. Brooklyn Hustlas lost to both of these teams, so they cannot be seeded ahead of them.

The last two playoff spots are up for grabs between Wen Bo, Brooklyn Hustlas, and Kaman His Pants. The following are the Scenarios that can happen this Sunday to determine the spots:

Scenario 1

Brooklyn Hustlas beats Ponzi Schemers
Wen Bo beats Anthony Wiener's Wiener
-or-
3rd Rock beats Kaman His Pants

Seeding:

(5) Wen Bo (4-2)

(6) Brooklyn Hustlas (4-2)

Elminated: Kaman His Pants

Scenario 2

Brooklyn Hustlas lose to Ponzi Schemers
Wen Bo loses to Anthony Wiener's Wiener
3rd Rock loses to Kaman His Pants

Seeding:

(5/6) Wen Bo (3-3)

(6/X) Brooklyn Hustlas (3-3)

(5/6/X) Kaman His Pants (3-3)

Wen Bo will have a higher seed than Brooklyn Hustlas since they beat them in Week 1, so they'll either be seeded 5th or 6th.

Seeding of BH and KHP will be determined by Point Differential. KHP can jump to the 5th seed if they end the season with a higher point differential than Wen Bo. Whichever team has the lowest Point Differential between BH & KHP will be eliminated. Current differentials: WB (+17), BH (+6), and KHP (+7).

Scenario 3

Brooklyn Hustlas beat Ponzi Schemers
Wen Bo loses to Anthony Wiener's Wiener
3rd Rock loses to Kaman His Pants

Seeding:

(5) Brooklyn Hustlas (4-2)

(6/X) Wen Bo (3-3)

(6/X) Kaman His Pants (3-3)

Seeding will be determined by Point Differential. Whichever team has the lowest Point Differential between Wen Bo and Kaman His Pants will be elmininated. Current differentials: WB (+17) and KHP (+7).

Scenario 4

Brooklyn Hustlas loses to Ponzi Schemers
Wen Bo beats Anthony Wiener's Wiener
3rd Rock loses to Kaman His Pants

Seeding:

(5) Wen Bo (4-2)

(6/X) Brooklyn Hustlas (3-3)

(6/X) Kaman His Pants (3-3)

Seeding will be determined by Point Differential. Whichever team has the lowest Point Differential between Brooklyn Hustlas and Kaman His Pants will be elmininated. Current differentials: BH (+6) and KHP (+7).

Here's what the Playoffs look like so far (Number 1 and 2 seeds have first round byes):

Playoffs - 11/13/11:

12:15pm Team X Number 5 Seed
1:15pm Manhattan Pride Number 6 Seed
2:15pm Ponzi Schemers TX/5 Seed
3:15pm Game, Blouses MP/Number 6 Seed
4:15pm PS/TX/Number 5 Seed GB/MP/Number 6 Seed

The champagne celebration and awarding of the shirts will take place at around 5:30pm.

Week 6 Power Rankings

No previews this week, just Power Rankings.

Rank Team Record Comment
1. Team X 4-1 Please excuse the disrespect this power rankings showed to them last week. Without their top scorer Nobby, Earl dropped 32 points and filled in nicely.
2. Ponzi Schemers  4-0* Fine, prove to me you can do it. They go up against Team X for the #1 seed. Win and we'll take off the asterisk.
3. Manhattan Pride 3-2 What happened? Was it the curse of the #1 ranking? (Every #1 ranked team has gone on to lose their next game) We'll see how they rebound after last week's loss--this late in the season every game is important.
4. Wen Bo 3-2 These guys are right on track. Looks like David has got his shot back, and if he keeps knocking them down, look for them to don those championship shirts again.
5. Brooklyn Hustlas 2-2 These guys likely need to win out to get into the playoffs. Tough matchup last week against Team X, but they just couldn't close out the game.
6.     Kaman His Pants 2-3 With two straight wins, they look like a playoff team, but they don't control their own destiny and will need a number of other teams to lose. They're sure to be following us on Twitter waiting for the scores of each hoping those top teams fall.
7. Real Ready 1-3 Their playoff hopes are slipping away, they'd need to win out and have other teams lose out to sneak in. They'll face a Manhattan Pride team this week that's looking to recover from last week's loss.
8.     3rd Rock 0-4 Tough loss in Week 5. Tons of talent but this team needs to come together and play the role as a spoiler for other teams. They've got a lot of bigs down low to beat up on the Blouses this Week.
9.     Anthony Wiener's Wiener 0-4 Bye week.
10.    Game, Blouses 3-1 This team was very fortunate many players from Manhattan Pride were either late or injured. They haven't clinched a playoff spot yet, but even if they do, look for them to be one and done.

*Ponzi Schemers has won on a forfeit as well as received extra points during Week 3 for their opponent coming in late.

Week 5 Power Rankings

No previews this week, just Power Rankings.

Rank Team Record Comment
1. Manhattan Pride 3-1 Huge statement made by this team last Sunday. These guys took care of the defending champs last week and look to do the same to the runner-ups from last year this week. If they can do that, they are definitely the odds on favorite to win it all.
2. Team X 3-1 There goes their undefeated season. This team looked out of synch last week as Manhattan Pride handed Team X their first loss of the season. The schedule gets no easier as they face a well-rested Brooklyn Hustlas squad.
3. Brooklyn Hustlas 2-1 Bye Week.
4.     Ponzi Schemers 4-0* Well how much more can we keep doubting these guys? They're undefeated! They've got a bye this week and then they play Team X, so we'll see if they're for real soon enough.
5. Wen Bo 2-2 A much needed win from these guys to stay in the playoff hunt. We'll see if Herman & Co stays hot against 3rd Rock this week.
6. Kaman His Pants 1-2 Last week's win saved their season. If they run the table, they may just squeeze into the playoffs. Will we see another dunk from Dave this week?
7. Real Ready 1-2 These guys have a tough schedule coming up. Huge game this week against Kaman His Pants. Huge.
8.     3rd Rock 0-3 Bye Week.
9.     Anthony Wiener's Wiener 0-4 Played a great first half only to let the lead slip. These guys need to work on closing out their games. They've got a bye this week, but if they play Brooklyn Hustlas in Week 6 as they did in the first half of Week 4's game, they'll have a good chance to win.
10.    Game, Blouses 2-1 Losing to the Ponzi Schemers? Not a good way to try to climb out of the basement of the Power Rankings.

*Ponzi Schemers has won on a forfeit as well as received extra points during Week 3 for their opponent coming in late.

Week 4 Power Rankings

No previews this week, just Power Rankings. There's no lockout at ABCHoopsNYC, and even when there's scaffolding on the court, WE PLAY!

Rank Team Record Comment
1. Team X 3-0 The Summer Champs continue to roll as they took care of business against Kaman His Pants. Looks like the team to beat (and perhaps repeat) so far, but it's only Week 4.
2. Brooklyn Hustlas 2-1 We'll scratch their loss to rust, or to early jitters, but since then, they've been playing as a cohesive unit (it's like they actually play outside ABCHoops!). Hard to see them fall below #4 in our rankings, but it's still early.
3. Manhattan Pride 2-1 Pulled off a close one against the Spring Champs this week. No reason to put them anywhere but #3, but they've got a big matchup this week. The biggest question on this team is whether William Modeste will show up to a game on time.
4. Ponzi Schemers 3-0* Undefeated? Are you serious? Make no mistake, they're here and here to stay. Adam Murphy continues to score and shoot and shoot at will. With a tough player in Alex, has Adam finally found the Batman this Robin has needed all along?
5. Real Ready 1-1 Playing without James this week hurt the team, but we've all seen what Richie is capable of, he'll drop 40 on you, so watch out. Seriously, watch out (also watch out for traffic).
6. Wen Bo 1-2 The Spring Champs are back although they've dropped two straight, we don't see much change in terms of talent. Don't overlook their low ranking just yet, it's been a long lay off.
7. Kaman His Pants 0-3 They look good, they really do, but they're missing something. With a few weeks under their belts (playing together for the first time), we see them coming back strong for the second half of the season. The biggest question on this team is whether Allan will show up to a game on time.
8. 3rd Rock 0-3 Solid effort week in and week out usually leads to wins. The ball just hasn't rolled their way. 3rd Rock looks to rest and recover this weekend and come back strong and prove HARD WORK PAYS OFF.
9. Anthony Wiener's Wiener 0-3 Tons of talent on this team but the pieces have yet to fit. It's been a tough first half for the Weiners, but look to them to make a second half push to get into the playoffs. Once this team starts gelling, they will make noise.
10. Game, Blouses 2-0 Nope.

*Ponzi Schemers has won on a forfeit as well as received extra points during Week 3 for their opponent coming in late.

Week 3 - 10/9/11 Preview

12:15PM: 3rd Rock (0-2) vs Brooklyn Hustlas (1-1)

Game Line: Brooklyn Hustlas -10

The Hustlas squeezed out an impressive win last week against Manhattan Pride. With a full squad at every game, this is could be a playoff team. 3rd Rock on the other hand lost again last week--this time at the hands of Real Ready. This is a must win for them, and it's not going to be an easy one.

Prediction: Brooklyn Hustlas covering

Game Changers in Week 2:

Otis (3rd Rock) 10 PTS, 8 RBS

Lewis (BK Hustlas) 14 PTS, 12 RBS

1:15PM: Wen Bo (1-1) vs Manhattan Pride (1-1)

Game Line: Manhattan Pride -2

Wen Bo and Manhattan Pride both lost their first games last week. Neither team wants to drop two straight especially if they want to make the playoffs. This is a potential playoff preview.

Prediction: Manhattan Pride covering

Game Changers in Week 2:

Herman (Wen Bo) 16 PTS, 4 RBS, 4 ASTS

William (Manhattan Pride) 17 PTS, some deep ass threes

2:15PM: Real Ready (1-0) vs Ponzi Schemers (2-0)

Game Line: Real Ready -2

This matchup features the league's top two scorers. Keep in mind, during our Spring Season, Richie (28.9 PPG) from Real Ready edged out Adam (25.2 PPG) from Ponzi for the scoring title. This season, Adam is yet again in Richie's shadow, but he's come back in the Fall with a stronger squad. Will this be a battle of the leading scorers? Or will these two pass the ball once in a while? I think the former.

Prediction: Ponzi and the points

Game Changers in Week 2:

Adam (Ponzi) 24 PTS, .625 FG%

Richie (Real Ready) 30 PTS, .600 3PT%

3:15PM: Game, Blouses (1-0) vs Anthony Weiner's Weiner (0-2)

Game Line: Game, Blouses -3

Following their bye, Game, Blouses looked strong in Week 2. As runner ups in the Summer Season, the Blouses are coming back with a vengeance looking to go undefeated with their new big man Tyler and the fast handed Anthony who had a record 7 steals last week. The Wieners have a good squad with the return of their PG Michael Molina, but they still haven't connected the pieces to get their first win. Will the Wieners bring back their stellar performance from last season or will their losses continue to pile up?

Prediction: Anthony Weiner's Weiner and the points

Game Changers in Week 1:

Anthony (Game, Blouses) 14 PTS, 7 STL

Jihad (Wiener's Wiener) 13 PTS, 15 RBS

4:15PM: Team X (2-0) vs Kaman His Pants (0-2)

Game Line: Team X -6

Last week, Team X showed everyone who the real champions were after beating Spring champs Wen Bo. With a bigger and faster roster, Team X looks to maintain their undefeated season. After a humiliating defeat to their former teammates last Sunday, the Kamans are still looking for their first win. From missing half their team in Week 1, to the absence of their key big man Dave in Week 2, the Kamans need to get their act together if they want to play deep into November.

Prediction: Kaman His Pants outright win

Game Changers in Week 1:

Nobby (Team X) 20 PTS, 53.3 FG%

Allan (Kaman His Pants) 9 PTS, 6 RBS

Week 2 - 10/2/11 Preview

12:15PM: Manhattan Pride (1-0) vs Brooklyn Hustlas (0-1)

Game Line: Game Line: Manhattan Pride (-5) Brooklyn Hustlas (+5)

As they locked down their first win of the season, Manhattan Pride looked like a team that had been playing together for a long time. However, they all just met each other last week! With tons of scoring weapons coupled with good fundamental play, everyone needs to watch out for these guys this season. Their team chemistry will only get better.

The Brooklyn Hustlas played well until late in the second half when they blew the lead and lost to the Spring Champions. You can tell this team plays good team ball, and once they hit their shots, it's going to be a long day for their opponents.

Prediction: Brooklyn Hustlas covering

Game Changers in Week 1:

Steve (Manhattan Pride) 13 PTS, 10 RBS, 1.000 FG%

Jeff (Brooklyn Hustlas) 14 PTS, 4 RBS

1:15PM: Ponzi Schemers (1-0) vs Anthony Wiener's Wiener (0-1)

Game Line: Ponzi Schemers (+3) Anthony Wiener's Wiener (-3)

The last and only time the Ponzis ever won a game prior to their victory in Week 1 was in the Week 1 of the Spring Season. After that win, they went on to lose their remaining 7 games. Will this season be any different? Are they a new team with a new attitude ready to make a real run? YES I'M A BELIEVER! (P.S. they won on a forfeit last week).

In Week 2, the Ponzi Schemers will be met by a playoff team from last season--Anthony Wiener's Wiener. With new faces, this team looks like they loaded up and are ready to go deeper into the playoffs in the fall. After a tough and controversial loss in Week 1, look for this team to come out strong.

Prediction: Anthony Wiener's Wiener covering

Game Changers in Week 1:

Dorian (Ponzi Schemers) 13 PTS, 8 RBS

Jihad (Wiener's Wiener) 7 PTS, 6 RBS

2:15PM: Wen Bo (1-0) vs Team X (1-0)

Game Line: Even

Wen Bo were ABCHoopsNYC's first ever champion. Team X are the defending champs. This matchup of Spring and Summer Champions will be a good one. Perhaps each team should wear their respective championship shirts this week? Technical fouls will still apply.

Prediction: Team X

Game Changers in Week 1:

George (Team X) 14 PTS, 11 RBS

Wen Bo (Wen Bo) 11 RBS, 2 AST

3:15: Real Ready (0-0) vs 3rd Rock (0-1)

Game Line: Real Ready (-2) 3rd Rock (+2)

After going from runner-up champions in the Spring to winless in the Summer, Real Ready returns this Fall to right their wrongs. They'll be facing a new team in 3rd Rock. After a tough Week 1 loss to the defending champs, look for 3rd Rock to shoot better than .191 from the field.

Prediction: Real Ready to cover

Game Changers in Week 1:

Otis (3rd Rock) 15PTS, 4 RBS

4:15: Game, Blouses (0-0) vs Kaman His Pants (0-1)

Game Line: Game, Blouses (+5) Kaman His Pants (-5)

These two teams were once one. They were Houlihan L. back in the Spring. Players have gone their separate ways, but their worlds will once again collide this Sunday at 4:15PM. Even though Kaman His Pants forfeited their first game, their squad looks strong. They have a good back-court and two monsters down low. All they have to do now is show up to the games on time. Let's give some respect to Game, Blouses though. They were last season's runner-up. However, after losing many key players, one has to ask, are they this year's Real Ready?

Prediction: Kaman His Pants to cover

Game Changers in Week 1:

Scott (Kaman His Pants) 14 PTS, 11 RBS

Team X was crowned Champion after beating Game, Blouses this past Sunday. Game, Blouses advanced after beating Anthony Wiener's Wiener in a competitive game. Week 6 - 8/7/11 Preview

The last day of the regular season is this Sunday, and it's been a competitive and fun season, but now it's time to get serious. Real Ready, Duh, Winning, and Crispin have officially been eliminated from playoff contention, but they all still have the potential to spoil the playoff dreams of their opponents.

There are a number of scenarios that can potentially occur in terms of the playoff seeding. If there's a two team tie in terms of record, whoever won the regular season matchup gets the higher seed. If the two teams didn't face each other (Team X and Game, Blouses never played each other), seeding is determined by the final overall point differential.

If there is a three team tie and regular season matchups don't make seeding clear (Anthony Wiener's Wiener beat Nobody, Nobody beat Team X, and Team X beat Anthony Wiener's Wiener [Scenarios 12-14]), point differential is used. If a four way tie in terms of final record occurs, seeding is determined by final point differential.

There are 16 scenarios that can occur this week:

Week 5 - 7/31/11 Preview

12PM: Holy Day Detox (4-0) vs. Crispin (1-3)

Game Line: Holy Day Detox (-10) Crispin (+10)

The Holy Day Detoxes are looking mighty fine. After taking care of Anthony Wiener's Wiener, they secured a playoff spot. They take their perfect record against a Crispin squad that has dropped two straight. Upset? Naw.

Prediction: Holy Day Detox covering

Game Changers in Week 4:

John (Crispin) 18PT, 8RB

Sam Han. (Holy Day Detox) 25PT, 8RB

1PM: Real Ready (0-4) vs. Anthony Wiener's Wiener (2-2)

Game Line: Real Ready (+8) Anthony Wiener's Wiener (-8))

After forfeiting Week 4, Real Ready remains winless. Things don't get any easier as they face Anthony Wiener's Wiener—a team that has lost two straight, but are still in position for the final playoff spot. This is a must win for the Wiener's.

Prediction: Anthony Wiener's Wiener covering

Game Changers in Week 4:

Carlos M. (Anthony Wiener's Wiener) 15PT, 4RB

2PM: Team X (3-1) vs. Nobody (2-2)

Game Line: Team X (-5) Nobody (+5)

This is a potential first round playoff preview. The Nobodies are in a must win situation for the rest of the season. They are currently 5th and need to win out in order to stay in contention for a playoff spot. With a win this week, Team X will secure a playoff spot. Both teams have a lot on the line.

Prediction: Team X covering

Game Changers in Week 4:

Pat A. (Nobody) 11PT, 8RB

Justin (Team X) 14PT, 16RB, 8AST

3PM: Duh, Winning (1-3) vs. Game, Blouses (3-1)

Game Line: Duh, Winning (+5) Game, Blouses (-5)

This is an interesting matchup. Owing to a combination of timely shooting and great team chemistry, Game, Blouses has reeled off three consecutive wins. However, their inability to put opponents away late in games, coupled with a high reliance on the 3 point shot, is forcing me to stay away from picking them this week. I'm going with Duh, Winning in an upset.

Prediction: Duh, Winning and points

Game Changers in Week 4:

Kyle (Game, Blouses) 20PT, 6RB, 4AST

Week 4 - 7/24/11 Preview

12PM: Holy Day Detox (3-0) vs. Nobody (2-1)

Game Line: Holy Day Detox (-3) Nobody (+3)

Holy Day Detox flexed their muscles last week against Real Ready and now bring their perfect record against Nobody who also came off an impressive victory. The Detoxes have a deep bench and good size which may be too much for Nobody to handle.

Prediction: Holy Day Detox covering

Game Changers in Week 3:

Bryan A. (Nobody) 18PT, 12RB, .538 FG%

Christian (Holy Day Detox) 22PT, .556FG%

1PM: Real Ready (0-3) vs. Duh, Winning (0-3)

Game Line: Real Ready (pick) Duh, Winning (pick)

This matchup features two teams searching for their first win of the season. Real Ready is plagued with injuries as two of their starters are questionable for this game. Duh, Winning managed to hang with Team X last Sunday in the first half but the poor shooting in the 2nd half led to their demise. Both of these teams need to look for better shots.

Prediction: Duh, Winning

Game Changers in Week 3:

Kevin (Duh, Winning) 11 PT, 4RB

Yannis (Real Ready) 6PT, 7RB

2PM: Crispin (1-2) vs. Game, Blouses (2-1)

Game Line: Crispin (+5) Game, Blouses (-5)

Game, Blouses played an extremely impressive game last week handing Anthony Wiener's Wiener their first loss. Great team play and timely shooting showed the league they are a team to fear. Crispin may be playing without their starting point guard due to injury. However, I think they will come together and pull off a mini-upset.

Prediction: Crispin and points

Game Changers in Week 3:

Kenan (Crispin) 14PT, 6RB

Kyle (Game, Blouses) 7PT, 8RB, 4 Steals

3PM: Team X (2-1) vs. Anthony Wiener's Wiener (2-1)

Game Line: Anthony Wiener's Wiener (+2) Team X (-2)

This is a potential playoff matchup. Both teams have good size, play well together, and can score from all parts of the court. Everyone should stay for this game.

Prediction: Anthony Wiener's Wiener and points

Game Changers in Week 3:

Eugene L. (Team X) 13 PT, 7 RB, .500FG%

Desmin (Anthony Wiener's Wiener) 11PT, 17RB

Picks Record: 3-1

Week 3 - 7/17/11 Preview

12PM: Team X (1-1) vs. Duh, Winning (0-2)

Game Line: Team X (-10) Duh, Winning (+10)

Losing by only one, Team X suffered their first loss of the season in a nail biter in Week 2. Look for them to bounce back this week. As for Duh, Winning, they seem to be doing everything but winning. Will they pick up their first win this Sunday or dig themselves in a deeper hole?

Prediction: Team X covering the spread

Key Matchups:

Nobby N. (Team X) 15 PPG, 3.5 APG

Kevin (Duh, Winning) 16 PPG, 7.5 RPG

1PM: Nobody (1-1) vs. Crispin (1-1)

Game Line: Nobody (-2) Crispin (+2)

Last Sunday Crispin picked up their first win while Nobody were handed their first loss. This matchup of peculiar names is a toss-up. This Sunday should show each teams' true colors.

Prediction: Crispin and the points

Key Matchups:

Juan C. (Nobody) 15 PPG, 4.5 RPG

Robert (Crispin) 12.5 PPG, 3 RPG

2PM: Real Ready (0-2) vs. Holy Day Detox (2-0)

Game Line: Real Ready (+5) Holy Day Detox (-5)

What's wrong with Real Ready? Last season's runner-up has looked lackluster the first two games. This is a talented team that simply needs to wake up. Their schedule gets no easier as they face an undefeated Holy Day Detox. The Detoxes are playing well but narrowly escaped with a one point victory last week. This should be a good one.

Prediction: Real Ready to win outright

Key Matchups:

James S. (Holy Day Detox) 26 PPG, 6 RPG

Richie C. (Real Ready) 14 PPG, 1.5 RPG

3PM: Anthony Wiener's Wiener (2-0) vs. Game, Blouses (1-1)

Game Line: Anthony Wiener's Wiener (-10) Game, Blouses (+10)

Anthony Wiener's Wiener exhibited their dominance last week on both sides of the court. Their team-play is the reason they are sitting at top of the standings. Game, Blouses picked up their first win last week but still looked shaky closing out games. They're going to need a Prince-esque performance from all their players this week.

Prediction: Anthony Wiener's Wiener to cover

Key Matchups:

Carlos M. (Anthony Wiener's Wiener) 21.5 PPG, 6.5 RPG

Thomas (Game, Blouses) 9.5 PPG, .625 3PT%

Week 2 - 7/10/11 Preview

12PM: Team X (1-0) vs. Holy Day Detox (1-0)

Both teams are coming off impressive Week 1 victories as Team X crushed Real Ready, and Holy Day Detox took care of Duh, Winning. Both teams shot lights out and look to stay undefeated after this Sunday. This matchup should be very exciting.

Key Matchups:

Nobby N. (Team X) 13 PPG, 7 RPG, 5 APG

James S. (Holy Day Detox) 26 PPG, .800 3PT%

1PM: Duh, Winning (0-1) vs. Crispin (0-1)

Going a combined 1 for 19, both teams struggled shooting threes in Week 1. Despite this, they were the top teams in FT%. Just an off day from beyond the arc? Hopefully.

Key Matchups:

Kevin (Duh, Winning) 16 PPG, 7 RPG

Raul (Crispin) 10 RPG, 3 APG

2PM: Real Ready (0-1) vs. Game, Blouses (0-1)

We have two returning teams with some new faces from the Spring Season. Game, Blouses, formally known as Houlihan L., had their hearts broken last week losing on a buzzer beater. Real Ready, the Spring's runner-up looked lackluster as they lost by 27. Expect both teams to be hungry this Sunday.

Key Matchups:

Matt (Game, Blouses) 12 PPG, 9 RPG

Richie C. (Real Ready) 18 PPG, 2 RPG

3PM: Anthony Wiener's Wiener (1-0) vs. Nobody (1-0)

Anthony Weiner's Weiner shot .500 from beyond the arc Week 1 and look to continue their great team play this Sunday. Juan C., of Nobody, sank the game winning 3 against Game, Blouses last week. Both teams are feeling good and riding high.

Key Matchups:

Carlos M. (Anthony Weiner's Wiener) 22 PPG, .625 3PT%

Juan C. (Nobody) 16 PPG, 7 RPG
